Daily Care

The daily care component of our legislation provides treatment, care and support for people who have received serious, lifelong disabilities in a motor accident.

You may qualify for daily care if:

  • You require or you are likely to require, direct personal support for activities of daily living for at least 2 hours per day for an indefinite period, commencing no later than one year after the date of the accident.

The maximum statutory limit for medical and associated expenses is removed for those who satisfy the daily care component.

We will determine if you meet the daily care component of our legislation by:

  • Engaging the services of a Support Needs Assessor to assess your current and ongoing attendant care requirements; and/or
  • Obtaining thorough written medical advice on the injury sustained and the requirement for ongoing attendant care requirements.

The same eligibility conditions apply as per the other part of our scheme, but our legislation ensures we adopt a lifetime care approach. This enables the MAIB to be actively involved in your lifetime rehabilitation, with the aim of restoring your maximum independence.

Help may include attendant care, supported accommodation, treatment and equipment.
