Ambulance

The reasonable cost of Ambulance services (road or air) for a client who has sustained an injury as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

Hospital

The reasonable costs of Hospital treatment and services at both public and private hospitals (shared room only).

Medical and disability benefits

The reasonable costs associated with physical therapies, optical, dental, medical appliances, aids and equipment, alterations to vehicles and buildings, attendant care and travel expenses.

Rehabilitation services

MAIB has a panel of preferred providers who are all experts in their fields, familiar with the MAIB system and provide a high quality service. If you require any of the following services, you will be allocated a provider from one of these panels:

Occupational Therapy
To improve function, increase independence and to source the best medical equipment to meet injury related need.

Vocational Rehabilitation
To assist you to understand and manage your injury, and to safely return to work.

Support Needs Assessment
To determine the correct levels of Attendant Care Support to maximise your recovery and independence.

Case Management
Assistance to understand what has happened to you and to source the best possible services in your community to meet your injury related need and any pre-injury issue that may impact on your recovery.

Loss of income

If you are not able to perform your work duties as a result of the injury sustained in the motor accident, MAIB can assist you by paying a temporary loss of income allowance while you recover enough to return to your work.

Housekeeping

Should you be unable to carry out your normal household duties as a result of your injury, MAIB can assist with a temporary allowance to enable you to engage someone to assist you with these duties.

Travel

Should you need to travel more than 20 kilometres each way to obtain medical treatment as a result of your injury, MAIB can reimburse your reasonable travel expenses. We can assist with taxi travel expenses on a temporary basis should you be medically certified as unable to drive due to your injuries. Travel by public transport may also be claimed.
